***It is with a heavy heart that I let everyone know that Mona passed away in June of 2018. She was almost 10 years old and a happy, empathetic and very special dog. Both my clients and myself miss having her with us each day. I am hoping to bring another therapy dog into my practice in the near future and will hopefully be able to provide an update on that soon.***
Meet Mona
Mona, a French Bulldog, is a trained therapy dog and a regular visitor to my practice. She loves people, animals and pretty much any inanimate object that she encounters.
As a therapy dog, Mona's presence in the therapy room can act as a calming influence, a stress relief, and a source of grounding.
Animal assisted therapy works to encourage a felt sense of security within the therapy room, which can then help to facilitate the experience of processing and ultimately, of healing. Interacting with an animal can promote safety, consistency, security and stability and these traits can then be transferred into other situations and experiences.
